Henry Miller to the high-stakes thrill of Corporate Raid, the gritty suspense of Where’s Justin and the An American Girl children’s historical fiction books published by the Pleasant Company, these stores all offer a diverse look into American storytelling at its best. Miller’s work blends historical fact with fiction, capturing the spirit of early Texas settlers. Meanwhile, G.W. Yates’ Corporate Raid and Where’s Justin dive into the world of crime, corruption, and survival—whether it’s through a corporate war entangled with drug cartels or a private investigator’s dangerous hunt for a missing man. Together, these works reflect the depth and drama found in both Texas history and contemporary Texas fiction. Likewise the American Girl books tell stories of adventurous young girls who are growing up in early America found in both American history and contemporary American fiction.
